“Lessons Learned” – Someone Very Close to My Life Recently Died

Someone very close to me recently died. His life … his portfolio of projects (remember that a project is unique and temporary) … ended suddenly, unexpectedly and tragically for me.

So it’s time for “lessons learned” defined by PMBOK’s as “The learning gained from the process of performing the project.” BABOK similarly defines that concept.

I was one of two people to give his eulogy. I won’t bore you with the details. However, I do want to offer only one vital message.

Although his body died, his spirit and the memories I have about him will never die. I will live and learn from him throughout my life. And perhaps my learnings will touch others.

For any of our business or personal projects, that’s all PMBOK and BABOK wants “lessons learned” to do for us!

Do the right thing! Pay it forward. Together, let’s make a positive difference.
